Master Trooper Ayers has been serving the Commonwealth for 29 years. Since 1992 he has served as the department chaplain. Since 1995 he has been working with D.A.R.E. and in 2003 was named VA D.A.R.E. Officer of the year. He is currently the State D.A.R.E. Coordinator. He also serves on Governor's Officer for Substance Abuse Prevention Committee. Trooper Ayers still actively teaches the D.A.R.E. Curriculum in schools within the Commonwealth of Virginia.
He has facilitated D.A.R.E. trainings in Virginia and nationally since 2000. He has been involved in International D.A.R.E. Trainings. He has been on training teams in Europe, Asia, Brazil, and Bahrain. He is scheduled to facilitate another D.A.R.E. training for the United States Military in Okinawa during the month of May. This training will be his 14th international event! He is also a certified counselor with the American Association of Christian Counselors. He has been married to his wife for 34 years. At the National D.A.R.E Conference in Texas was named the 2008 National D.A.R.E. Officer of the year.
